I have just finished the Dancing Batiks quilt top and I am glad. So many pieces to get wrong!!!
I changed the border a bit but I like it. Maybe I can retrieve the picture.
Now if you know my house you will realize that this quilt is hanging sidewise in my kitchen door.
However Karma is great because I think I like it better this way with the fushia borders on the bottom. Isn't life wonderful. After the "Desert Sky" workshop on June 30 I will have had my fill of Judy Niemeyer's paper piecing patterns for a while.
The day lilies and gardenias are just fantastic this time of year. With the rain we have had and the cool weather life is indeed good and beautiful.
Happy Quilting

Dancing Batiks
Having a difficult time trying to decide which colors to put where.
I cut out the block for General Wives. This month is the wife of J.E.B Stuart. I never like the fabrics until I see it finished. Am ready to see the entire quilt done. I see it at Mary Ellen's but I mean mine.
We are putting the blocks together for our Raffle Quilt and I am anxious to see it done. I know it will be awesome because we used the line "Blueberry Crumb Cake" and those are nice blues.
Time for snack.

So much to do this is one thing I did get done. Our BOM for May meeting. I like the fabrics and the pattern. Have made one for me with blues. Surprise. I hope we get them all back because Lorena said she handed out more than 20.
These are fabrics I bought in Alice Springs in the outback in Australia. When we got home we found out we could have ordered them and saved some money. Also Thimble Pleasures has some of the same fabrics?? Anyway we had fun at the fabric store.
I have taxed my brain enough today with sewing at the bee and trying to remember how to get these pictures from my phone to the blog.
Later.
At Bee today I did get the sashing on the row blocks and have decided to follow Connie's advice and put corner stones in the sashing going the other way. I just love batiks and have wanted to do a spider web quilt since I saw the one Pat Benane did.

countdown quilt finished
This is my finished, (quilted and bound) countdown quilt. It was a mystery quilt BOM for the WhistleStop shop in Cary to celebrate the 10 the shop had been open. It made me do a lot of different things especially the applique which I had not done before. Heather Tighe also quilted this one and it is beyone fantastic. Each row is different and the echo quilting on the top applique is exactly the right thing. I told her to do whatever she thought would look good. And she did.
The other pictures are trying to look at some of the quilting. I hope it shows up.
Happy Quilting.

The next pictures are of the quilting.

This is the wandering stars quilt by Judy Niemeyer that I did at a workshop in November of 2011. It is quilted and bound!!
Heather Tighe from Hampstead did the quilting and it is stunning. I like the multicolored batik stars and I like the combination of large and small stars. Of course I love the flying geese borders. It is not a trapezoid shape but I have to take the picture with the quilt hanging in my dining room and I have to have the camera at an angle to avoid the table. The first picture is of the back but it is hard to see the beautiful quilting that Heather did. I am trying to put the binding on the second quilt Heather did for me. It is the Countdown quilt for Connie Walker's Whistle Stop Shop in Cary. She really makes my quilts look special.
Have fun quilting.

The Star Gazer lily was bought from Wally world and put into a pot. There were three blooms and they were magnificant.

I used some fabric strips I had had from a previous quilt for my college roommate's granddaughter.
We had bee today and I put TBB together for two charity quilts. Now to get them quilted!!
