this is the quilt made from cut up men's shirts (idea from CH) and I really like it except while I was not looking I think Cecil mixed up my squares. I have three in a row alike!!!@#$% Did not see it until I had put it together. too tired to take it out. Have to put on side sashing and border but finished with those pesky blocks. Bee today in Garner was nice. Pot luck and everyone brings their A game. Donna's broccoli salad was delicious and Pat's cheesecake dessert was wonderful.
Great retreat with Snead's Ferry ladies in Myrtle Beach last week. Sewing up a storm.
Fun and the beach too.
Hope to be able to stay home and try a dresden plate quilt that Mary demonstrated at Bee today. I had bought the template a month ago. Karma I guess.
Time to fix supper and watch Downton Abbey I missed last Sunday.

Yesterday was lots of fun. Did not get a lot done at the bee but was great fellowship with everyone. We had about 12 people and everyone was doing their own thing. I am going to be sewing furiously with the SFP ladies and hope to get the shirt quilt top finished as well as a lap quilt with the lasagna strips top done. Can't catch up with Pat though. She is a quilting wonder. Rock on Pat.

computer ills and pocketbooks

The TWC man just left and I hope my wireless problems are over. He was nice and said there was a problem in the area they were trying to fix. He put in a new modem and bumped up power. Yea.
I finished the pocket book ( pattern is Juliet) that I was making. Have made four now and finally can get it right!! Love to mix the batiks. Will make another one in purple and turquoise. Has been a busy week with lots of eating out ( one of my favorite things to do) and seeing friends. Can hardly believe Shrove Tues is next week.

Boy what cold mornings. Cecil and I are so wrapped up we can hardly walk at 7 in the morning. Going to do my 1.5mile walk then get to making a pocketbook with batiks.
Going to cut out more shirts for different blocks for the next quilt and read my EFM material for tonight.
I have struggled with this new router long enough. Geek coming tomorrow!!!
Good column by Barry Saunders on Don Cornelius today in NO. Got home last night and watched two hours of Downton Abbey. Just wonderful entertainment.
The Wayne Museum Quilt Show turned out to be good. The quilts are different sizes, color palettes, and patterns. I love to see what everyone does with fabric.
When I read Pat B's blog I think about how productive she is. She is a genius with pattern, design, color and quilting. Kudos.
The picture is of three of the 16 blocks for my shirt quilt. They are 12.5 inch blocks so it will go quickly. Better get busy.

I have just returned from a few days in Florida with my cousin Art and his wife Lynn who was wonderful and took me to about 5 thrift shops, two great quilt shops and a Starbucks!!! I needed it. Art took me to play golf on a short but beautiful course near where they live. We also got some honeybell oranges and boy are they good. I went with my friend Mary who was going to visit her son near Tampa and two granddaughters.
I have cut up about 8 shirts I found at the thrift stores and am anxious to start to cut them into pieces for a quilt. I have coveted the one Connie made for too long!
The fabric stores had beautiful fabric and different ones from the ones I have found here. I did not see any reproduction Civil War fabrics but some of the Moda prints and some beautiful batiks. Oh well. The picture is the fourth block for the Generals' Wives quilt and it is from Sheridan's wife. It was an easy block so I did it this afternoon.
I have to finish the snowman hanging I started at midnight sewing at Thistle Bee but I don't think we will see any snow this winter.
Our 4-Bs quilt group will be here on Thursday so I had better get cracking and clean up the house!
