arrival

Today was a good day.  I spent the morning and early afternoon with good friends quilting and going to church service and lunch.  Had to come home early to let out Cecil and decided to take a nap.
Right before I left for Maundy Thursday service the Fed Ex arrived.  Yippee Skippee.
Here it is.  I have been waiting for this.
I just love it.  The next thing is to thread it and start sewing on it.  What fun.
I have finished some projects or at least the tops and continue to work on the monthly hangings and stitchers garden class.

I had a great day Tuesday going with C to Elegant Stitches to find some beautiful new batiks as if I need any but we all know it is not about need. Then we went to the Farmers Market Restaurant and had the most delicious lunch followed by a run through (first time for me) of Cosco.  Love that store and all the prepared foods.

Now to try to get some things straight so I can sew sew sew!

FO's and UFO's

I have finally finished the quilt for my cousin Art who stops by here on his way between Florida and Canada in April and again in October.  He has cousins in NC and PA and we get to see him at least twice a year.  Sometimes my friend Mary and I go down to Florida in January ( I know great idea huh) because she has a son and his family in Florida.
I hope he will use this quilt when he rests which is not very often.

Well I thought I had a bug it took so long to get this up.
I did this in Judy's class at WCC.  Love the fabrics and border.

The UFO is a top from BOM the guild was doing with donated fabrics.  Hope we can use it as second prize in "opportunity quilt" drawing.  The top is finally done.  Now for quilting.
The colors are prettier than the computer shows.

Glad to get this part done.  Now for this week of business.
Cooler quilting.

Catching up

This has been a busy month already and it does not look like it will get any better until after Easter.
Projects and Meetings, and Yoga Oh My.

Here is my march flower for "Stitchers Garden" Block of the Month class at Mary Ellen's.  It does not matter how much I get done before class I always seem to be the last to finish.  Anyway I am using Kaffe's fabrics to make the flowers interesting and am learning new things about my machine. I really
like using black and white fabrics for the backgrounds.

I am trying to control my batiks but it is difficult.  I got a good deal on another set of cubbies at target and put it together last week.  I have just about all my batiks in here that are less than 2 yards.
It is nice to be able to find the piece I need just by looking at the collection.

I am doing a second table runner for spring and will do the binding tonight.  It is a donation for a relay for life auction tomorrow night.

Windy quilting.

March is here

It is so hard to believe that it is March.  We had a good guild meeting Thursday winding up a hectic week.  I have two quilts to put on binding and one top to quilt.  Blocks to make into a quilt for the Day of sharing and two quilts for which I have begun to make blocks.  Oh well we have to stay busy.
This is a table runner I like and I wanted to do it in Spring colors.

The daffodils in the center I stole from a field because I cannot make mine grow and bloom. I just don't have enough sun or they are not in the right place.

My class at Thistle Bee was making a small hanging quilt each month.
Here is the one for March.
I decided to jazz it up with some beading.  Not sure it made it any better.  I tried to quilt shamrocks in the background but not much shows.  Probably a good thing.  I like making these one at a time.  Some who are in the class had already done the ones for April and May.  Go figure.

I cleaned up some today and had next door neighbor to put my sewing tv on top of the cabinet to give me more room....for... oh boy for more fabric.
Today was nice.
Clean quilting.
